BN launches machinery in Tasek Gelugor

BARISAN Nasional component party members and supporters in Tasek Gelugor have been asked to immediately get to the ground to seek the support of voters for the next general election.
Penang Barisan chief Teng Chang Yeow asked component party members to go door to door to meet voters, to ensure victory for Barisan.
“We do not have to wait until Parliament is dissolved to start meeting the voters and seeking their support.
“Just get to the ground and talk to them, and explain the government programmes to the people to convince them,” he said while launching the Barisan election machinery for the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency yesterday.
Also present were Permatang Berangan assemblyman Shabudin Yahaya, who is also Tasek Gelugor division Barisan chief, Teluk Air Tawar assemblyman Datuk Jahara Hamid, Sungai Dua assemblyman Jasmin Mohamad, state deputy Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, Tasek Gelugor MCA division chief Kong Chew Hock, state PPP chairman and state Barisan information chief Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, and state MIC representative S.S.T. Muniandy.
More than 3,000 people gathered to witness the event, held at the Tasek Gelugor commercial centre.
Teng said Barisan could easily retain the Tasek Gelugor constituency and its Teluk Air Tawar, Sungai Dua and Permatang Berangan state seats if Barisan members continued to stay motivated and be in high spirits.
He added that with similar attitude at all constituencies, Barisan could even regain the state.
Teng later launched Barisan’s Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency election machinery at the Perkampungan Juru community hall.
He said the previous Barisan-led state administration had laid strong foundations for Batu Kawan, by developing the Bandar Cassia township under the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and by connecting the Second Penang Bridge between Batu Maung on the island with Batu Kawan on the mainland.
“The previous state administration had mapped out necessary plans to further develop Batu Kawan, which is not being done by the present administration,” he said.
Teng also reminded Barisan’s component party members to close ranks and to forge ties to win over the people’s confidence and support.
“The people are the most important persons in an election, not the candidates, who may come and go.
“And, as a leader, my greatest hope is for the people to continue to support us.
“They will decide Barisan’s success in all elections, including in the next general election,” he said.
